How does a diatomite mat dry dishes?
Diatomite is a porous natural stone. Water from cups and plates is drawn into the stone in minutes and then evaporates, so the surface is dry again between uses with no damp tea towel.
How do I clean it?
Stand it on its edge to air-dry. If the surface darkens or stains, a light sand with fine sandpaper refreshes it. Do not soak it in soapy water.
Which size and style should I pick?
Small (40 × 30 cm) suits a couple of mugs and a few plates; Large (60 × 39 cm) takes a full wash-up. White, Medium Grey and Dark Grey are slatted rectangles; Oval White includes a round coaster and the White Set adds a wooden dish rack (both Large only).
